On February 18, 2026,
from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the Public
Relations and Strategic Communication
program, led by Assistant Professor
Wipanee Maenin, Head of the program,
along with Assistant Professor Rewadee
Waiwasana, Dr. Savitree Suwannano, and
Dr. Nantida Othakorn, took first and
second-year students on a field trip to
the headquarters of Ruam Charoen Pattana
Public Company Limited, or “Top
Charoen Optical,” in Pak Kret
District, Nonthaburi Province. The
purpose was to learn about business
operations and corporate communication
from a leading Thai organization,
enhance professional experience, and
prepare students for the job market. Mr.
Akarawat Chiranusornkul, Director of
Human Resources, welcomed the students
and presented an overview of Top Charoen
Optical's business operations, which
has been in operation for over 79 years,
boasts more than 2,000 branches
nationwide, and is a leader in eye care
services in Southeast Asia. Ms.
Pataraporn Tantrongpak, Deputy Director
of Corporate Communication, also shared
her experiences and approaches to
corporate communication in the digital
age, including communication issues and
image strategies. The two speakers
discussed organizational adaptation in
the rapidly changing media context,
engaging in a close and informal
exchange of knowledge in business
administration and communication.
Following this, the executives and staff
guided the students on a tour of the
media production studio, used for
filming advertising, promotional videos,
and online content. This allowed
students to witness the entire media
production process, from planning and
filming to editing and digital
dissemination, seamlessly connecting
classroom knowledge to practical
application. Additionally, the students
visited the Top Charoen Optical Museum,
showcasing the organization's
history from a family-owned optical shop
to a leading eyewear company in
Thailand. They also studied the
operations of various departments,
including:
- Marketing (covering product development, communications, graphic design, advertising, e-commerce, and contact center), and Business Development (overseeing branch expansion, location analysis, and space negotiation).
- Information Technology (IT) and document management systems (supporting data and technology operations).
- Quality Assurance (QA) and Human Resources (HR) departments (controlling service standards and developing personnel capabilities).
This field trip not only provided students with a realistic perspective on a national-level organization but also helped them understand the integration of public relations with business strategy, inspiring them and enhancing their potential to become true professionals in corporate communications in the digital age.
