The Faculty of
Communication Arts was invited by Thai
PBS and NIDA to brainstorm on the
“Future Study Project of Thai
Public Media.” Assistant Professor
Dr. Narong Anurak, Mr. Wiravat
Singhasiri, lecturers and students from
the Content Creation and News Program
joined the “Future Study Project
of Thai Public Media” to jointly
create a vision and approach for
developing the public media industry to
grow sustainably in the future. The
participants came from many
organizations to represent them in
expressing their opinions and
perspectives on the future of public
media. The atmosphere of the event
raised important issues that affect the
future such as politics, economy,
society, technology, environment, and
law, which may be involved and may cause
changes in the direction of media in
Thailand in the next 10 years in order
to respond to the needs of the people,
including trust in public media
organizations, formats, and changes in
direction from digital TV to other
online platforms to reach the people,
and to cope with the ever-changing
global trends, which will help to see a
picture of Thai media in the future. In
addition, there was an interesting
topic, “What will the role of
public media be in the next 10
years?” The participants agreed
that news or public TV must be able to
be a place for the people to rely on to
receive fairness. They must present news
that is more reliable and be a place for
families and youth to rely on. The
brainstorming session also talked about
changing the context of organizations in
the media industry in which direction to
go, to be consistent with the behavior
of people in the current era, including
(AI) artificial intelligence that will
help make work more convenient, solving
environmental issues that the media
should help raise awareness among the
public, and also talked about reducing
the problem of fake news that is often
seen today. In the future, there should
be a tool to help solve this problem in
a timely manner. This event was
organized by the National Institute of
Development Administration (NIDA) in
collaboration with the Public
Broadcasting Service of Thailand (MCOT)
at the Co-working space room, Learning
Center Building, Thai PBS TV
Station.
